Why Ukayans are Goldmines: The Audacity to Fashion

Hello, cheapepays and cheapepoys!
We are just so excited to share our first blog entry, Why Ukayans are Goldmines: The Audacity to Fashion . So basically, this is a sort of an Ukay Challenge. We went thrift shopping, took pictures of the clothes we bought and tried to look fancy(or not). Ukayans are basically gold mines if you just have oodles and oodles of patience and determination to find what you're looking for. Or, watch yourself surprised with good stuff lying beneath those mountains of clothes. As someone who loves thrift-shopping, it's really quite fulfilling to find great things which other people think as junks or invaluable. But ofcourse, as the old adage says nothing worth having comes easy!

Tip #1: Bring a bottle of water. Ukayan is a large sauna. In times of intense heat, you may forget that you're actually there to thrift not to find freaking fans because you are dripping with sweat. Stay hydrated.

There are a lot of thrift stores in GenSan but nothing compares to the ones near in the public market. They have the best deals and probably the cheapest. They have various of things for sale from clothes to linen sheets, even a whole stack life jackets(well, if ever you need one). So... here are some of the pictures we took from this adventure!

P47.50 outfit

Look at that! Our girl Cherry is wearing a checkered below-the-knee dress paired with a cream crop-top long sleeves. To complete the korean stylish that we want to achieve, she wore a pair of low-cut sneakers complemented with laced-socks. We kept her accessories minimal, so she only wore a choker and huge round earrings. In a matter of fact, we were not sure about this whole look but it looked good on her and she was comfortable the entire time of the shoot. This outfit is also very versatile, you can even wear this on a family dinner or on formal events, just wear a pair of heeled-shoes with ankle strap cuff and peep toe for a more sexy and elegant look.

Checkered Dress for P40

Next, we have here Alvin's outfit. He thrifted this long-sleeve for P25. He paired this with a faded blue jeans and white sneakers.

Here are other stuff that we have thrifted:

Top: P10

Skirt: P10

This is definitely one of my personal favorites. You can wear this with just a plain or simple t-shirt tucked-in. The fabric is so smooth. We bought this for only P10!

Soooo, there you have it! Being fashionable doesn't necessarily have to be expensive. There are just so many thrift stores in GenSan and definitely around your place too!

Tip #2: It would be ideal to have a solid idea of what you want before actually going there so that you kinda have a direction of what you're looking for. So it wouldn't be like finding a needle in a haystack!

We hope you had fun reading this and we hope to see you soon!
